This causes muscle loss (sarcopenia), frailty, reduced mobility, and loss of independence. 2. Inadequate Protein & Micronutrients Older adults need more protein but often eat less. Vitamin B12 absorption drops, and vitamin D/calcium intake is often low. Results: muscle wasting, weaker bones, fatigue, slower healing, and cognitive decline. 3. Dehydration Thirst sensation fades with age, and some avoid fluids due to incontinence concerns.
