And the horde downvotes you for deviating from group consensus, effectively acting as soft moderation by the mob. (Case in point: constant denial of the waxfest that is LotR 4K.) As a result, you rarely get serious and informative discussions here. ... People here deny the wax on LotR? Damn I’m generally very ignorant of/don’t notice video stuff but even I saw that it was egregious in a few instances when watching it ... There's a ton of groupthink on the Blu-ray.com forums though, which is usually headed by a handful of older users.

The website is only useful as a source of information for reviews and release dates but the forums are extremely toxic and full of trolls and other jackasses. The forum moderators are immature and typically assholes.

The forum there is a better source because then you get not only multiple impressions, there are also some really technical people there. The actual reviews themselves are a mixed bag sometimes. The anime reviews are especially bad usually. ... I read all of the video and audio reviews on blu-ray.com for the movies that I buy, mostly to see if there are any notable issues with the transfer (an “original stereo mix” actually turning out to be downmixed 5.1, the transfer being extremely dark like with Hocus Pocus, if AI upscaling was used like with Aliens, if way too much DNR was used like with Terminator 2, etc).
