It is along these lines that the early church, after seeing the resurrected and ascended Christ, intuitively began to share their possessions with one another (e.g. Acts 2:42–47), thus pointing not only back to a pre-fallen condition free of suffering, but forward to a future glory in which the suffering that arises from neglect and need will no longer exist. Often the problem of pain is raised as an accusation against people of faith. “How can you believe in God in a world with so much evil and suffering?” The implication seems to be that Christians, Jews, Muslims, and adherents of other religions face an insurmountable incongruity between their reverent faith and unavoidable pain.

I am told that in one very dominant east Asian country one of the things that they have been trying to analyze about the Western world is how Christianity has made more workers people of integrity, and they want to know how to transport that into their country. Well, I could tell them, “Let us go and do some evangelism with a full-orbed biblical frame of reference.” So there are things along those lines as well. Second, under the first one, what is perhaps more surprising than the fact there is a lot of suffering in the world due to inequity is that the grace of God has been as good as it is in allowing so many people to suffer less.

Only Christianity insists that God is not aloof and unaffected by the pain and evil in the world. On the contrary, God the Son, in his humanity, suffered the worst shame and pain we ever could, on the cross.

This moral law of suffering brought into lives because of sin is not eliminated altogether even if the daughter of abuse comes to Christ. She will be healed spiritually and emotionally by God. This may be true, but if we think that this Christian mother?s self esteem is not affected and that it has absolutely no effect on her children, we do not understand the consequences of sin.
