Is Context AI Fake or Legit?

The authors of Meta’s paper claimed that CICERO was trained to be “largely honest and helpful”4 and would “never intentionally backstab” by attacking its allies (Lewis, quoted in Heffernan12). In this section, we show that this is not true. CICERO engages in premeditated deception, breaks the deals to which it had agreed, and tells outright falsehoods.

This approach was compared with a retroactive, content-focused debunking, as well as a simple disclaimer that AI-generated information may be misleading, as often seen on real-world platforms. Additionally, the extent to which trust in AI-generated information is malleable was also tested with an intervention designed to boost trust. Across two experiments (total N = 1223), a misleading AI-generated article influenced reasoning regardless of its alleged source (human or AI).

We randomly chose 128 claims by the AI and had the fact-checker investigate each of them—127 were rated as “true,” one was “misleading,” and none were “false.” There was no evidence of political bias.

Web infrastructure provider Vercel disclosed a security breach that may have exposed customer API keys, prompting crypto projects to rotate credentials and review their code. Vercel traced the intrusion to a compromised Google Workspace connection via third-party AI tool Context.ai, but said environment variables marked as sensitive are stored in a way that prevents them from being read and there is no evidence they were accessed.

The hacker appears to have compromised OAuth tokens for some of Context’s consumer users. At least one employee at Vercel signed up for AI Office Suite, a Context product that allows consumers to work with AI agents to build presentations and other documents.
