Physical Media vs Streaming Debate Often Reiterates Same Points
“Here we go round the mulberry bush, the mulberry bush, the mulberry bush. This argument keeps coming up and between this and disk rot I’m really considering getting out of dodge. This is how it goes: party 1) physical media is superior and a bunch of facts to backup the opinion. No one really argues and everyone jumps into the echo chamber because we are all collectors. (This is an almost daily rant). Who are you saying this to or is this just to gather likes etc? Party2) rage baiters say streaming is better (pretty rare at this point in these subs) and party 1 argue back instead of doing what they should do which is not engage. Party3) people who collect as well as stream because they see advantages to their lives for both and don’t generally engage with either party stay silent. It all goes around and around and is just repeat stuff, repeat stuff, repeat stuff. And it just makes people want to disengage from these subs. I’ll get downvoted I don’t care. It’s tiresome. STFU and let other people be and share new original posts rather than the same old bs”
Summary
Physical media such as Blu‑ray delivers higher video and audio fidelity than most streaming options, and enthusiasts cite this quality advantage. However, streaming services now dominate market share and revenue, offering greater convenience and accessibility for the majority of consumers. Therefore, the claim that physical media is outright better is true for quality but not for overall popularity or practicality.
