Sometimes, a child is so severely ill that the parents and doctor together decide that there is no alternative but to terminate the child’s life. The doctor must always exercise due medical care.

A child may request euthanasia from the age of 12. However, the following additional requirements apply: the child must be capable of assessing and understanding what is best for them in their situation;
